Default 17" x 27" Road King Windshield

I picked up a blemished Clearview custom width windshield with recurve. It is 4" wider than stock and about 2.5" lower. In width, it is just about flush with the fork wind deflectors. I only get slight buffeting when wearing my full-face at +70 mph. Wind protection is better all around than the taller, thinner shield. I've been hanging around and this is my first post, hopefully I can upload the pictures correctly.

Hi Dave, love the look of that windshield. I'm not too happy with the stock windscreen on my '10 RK. I'm 6'4" and find that the stock ws creates alot of buffeting at speeds over 50 mph. What's your thoughts about the Clearview for someone my size?
Thx.

I'm 5'10" with a 30 inch inseam and I could have probably gone with an 18" tall one and it would have been perfect for height. Clearview only charges $40 for a custom width. The recurve supposedly deflects the wind up another couple inches. For a windshield you look over, here is their advice from their site:

1) On a level surface, place an object on the ground 50 feet in front of your bike
2) Sit on your bike in your normal riding position
3) Your line of sight should go just over the top edge of the shield while looking at the object
4) If you do not have a level surface, the top edge of the shield should be at nose level
5) You want to just look over the top edge by about 1”-2” so it is not directly in your view

They make Grand Tour version which is the same width as mine but 24" tall. I've thought about getting one for cold weather riding, but I would definitely be looking through that one. That is a huge shield. You can add a vent also. The extra width on mine pushes the air out wide enough that I only feel it on my hands when I shift and brake and I have 36" wide bars. I am guessing you would do well with a recurve that is an inch or two over stock. Get the wider width if you like the looks! I am happy with it.

Dave
