Default Burly EZ Clutch help

I have an 02 RK and bought the Burley EZ clutch, but I'm having problems installing it. I have the ramp tightened and ready to go, but when I put the spacer and O ring on the cable there is barely 2 threads left to screw into the cover. Can a smaller spacer work in replacement because it doesn't seem to be enough threads. Help please

I ran into the same scenario myself recently. The problem is that some cables have a longer threaded area than others. I had a spare cable and that's how I found out the differences in cables. My stock (2000) cable had the long threads. The cable I had on my bike at the time was from a 2008 Softail and I experienced the same scenario, not enough thread to use the spacer. Anyway, I would call Burly and find out what they say. They may not even know about the differences in cables themselves. I'd be curious to hear what they say.

Yea, I left them an e-mail, but yea like you said after I put the spacer on and Oring there is like 2 threads...maybe. I'm thinking of maybe just cutting the spacer down or getting a smaller one not as wide. I don't know...The bike is all ready to put back together too if I can just get this da#$ cable on.

Ok I finally got the Burly installed, but it kept hitting the inside of the cover so I had to trim it a bit. Now seeing some of the other threads on the Burly breaking pretty easy I wonder if I should just remove it if it's that fragile?

FWIW, I had put the Burly in my 04. It worked fine, but I also had to trim stuff to get it to fit properly. I then went to a VPC so when I changed bars and cables I didn't bother with it. If I were back in the same boat again and didn't have the money for a VPC or wasn't doing a build requiring a VPC, I would simply put in the 06 and later ramps. But's that's me.

We'll I have it all back installed, but I'm starting to second guess the install if what I hear is true and they can break easy. It seems like a pretty sturdy peice.

I put one in my '01 RK in December. I haven't ridden much with it yet though. (obviously not much riding time in Pittsburgh in the winter). Things were great when I installed it using all stock cables.

I just put on a set of 14" apes last week so the cables needed to be changed. I have the same problem you've got now with not too much thread. I'm going to go back and cut my spacer in half, which should do the trick. We'll see how it holds up. I'm looking forward to not having my left arm looking like popeye.

That's what I did, cut it in half and worked fine. I think I was expecting more as far as how easier it is because when I bolted everything back and adjusted the clutch a little it didn't feel much better. Unless I'm doing it wrong, but maybe I'll just take it back out. ugh.

I put one on my deuce at around 10k miles about 5 years ago, before HD started the easy pull clutch. The Burly has held up for 25k miles. It is just a TC88 with no mods, but it does have almost 80hp.
