Why disconnect the battery?

I'll hazard a guess and suggest that the instructions date back beyond maxi fuses and apply to models that predate maxi fuses too.

Wink Always...disconnect neg batt term first...

The instructions were intended for Harley "dummies"...not to insult anybody's abilities or experience.
For the untrained...that's the best way to alleviate shorts, arcs and sparks, and blowing yourself up. Then Harley would have another lawsuit and an excuse to raise prices.

"Caution: Coffee is HOT"! Ring a bell?
