The socket is about 7" long and has a bore that matches the OD of a puck (with left hand threads) that screws onto the end of the main shaft. It makes a lot more sence to get the right toool than try to make something work and possibly damage the main shaft.

Check Sears, they prolly have it. Also, it is a 3/4" drive socket, so you may need the 1/2" to 3/4" adapter. And it won't be a ten minute fix. Prolly take at least 20 mins just to get that nut loose. It's on pretty tight, and has red loctite holdin it in place. Might need to apply some heat to the nut to break the loctite loose, but only apply heat to the nut nothing else.

You will also need the tool to keep the sprocket from turning. You can make that outa a short piece of 2X4. Just look at the design in the catalog and cut the wood the same shape. It will work.
You might want to consider an air tool or hammer drill to get that nut off. I broke two 1/2" breaker bars tryin to get mine off last summer. Don't put extreme pressuer on the primary chain tensioner. You'll break it. It's only plastic parts.

And the tip of the socket has to be ground flat so you get a good grip on that nut. there isnt alot to grab on to!
