I had the Arnott/Blistein set up. This one has the 12 point adjustment feature. At the time it went for 1000.00. Having the bike really low in the garage to move around or back up was great. The problem was the ride even pumped up was crap. I had progressive 412's on there before and the Arnott's were never even as good as they were IMO. I tried each adjustment position at least twice annd tried different PSI settings and it still rode stiff. I had the manufacturers 30 day money back promise so back they went. For 1000.00 they had to ride a whole lot better.
For a $1000.00, I'm sure he had the Aldan set-up...they just ride firmer than stock. You may be giving up some cushioned ride (although I prefer a bit firmer ride) for TOTAL adjust ability...Solo, 2-up, Solo loaded, 2-up loaded...ect...I NEVER worry about bottoming out like I did w/OE shocks. They do ride better 2-up no doubt...still in my mind worth the $$.
With mine today, got off work and went to raise the bike to height and the compressor didn't make a sound, well had no time to deal with it.
I new the ride would be rough all the way home, and on certain bumps it was as bad as I thought it would be.
I have the alden, and I've never had a problem before, and now that dinner is over and I get the kids to bed, I'll have some quiet time to fix it before my ride to work in the morning. All in all the ride and the look have been great.
