the removal tool hooks to your socket wrench and will take it off if it's tight, the gaskets are reusable and they give you extra, if you need new ones you can reorder them or go to a local hydraulic hose shop and buy a Q-230 quad ring , they are not expensive

So this was just mentioned in a recent thread. Anyone out there have one of these? I like being able to clean the element with a solvent and reusing it.
Spec from their (K&P) web site: "The medical grade stainless steel cloth that we use is consistent across the entire media surface and is rated at 35 microns." I believe that I read that the correct Harley filter is 10 microns.
Harley's filter is 5 micron filtration, thats why I'm staying with it!

The 5 micron is an average and is going to let larger particles through, plus when the filters are in bipass mode they let everything through. The K&P filters at a constant rate. My before and after UOA showed my oil to be cleaner after running the K&P filter. Remember, the old bikes didn't even filter the oil. I wouldn't get worked up over micron ratings.
I've had mine about a year now and wouldn't go back to paper. I see everything thats trapped everytime i change the oil and my temp gauge hasn't goteen above 240 even in 98 degree temps riding in town.
I try to stay away from this discusion because there is always so freaking much misinformation. I have been using one for about 50,000 miles and like was posted above, Dan Baisley told me in person that he would not let one of his builds out the door without one and he was not selling them at the time. If you do not know who Baisley is do a google search. THere is no builder more respected. I change oil between 2500-5000 and am still on the same oring. I do blackstone oil analysis and after I started using the K&P non solubles in the oil went down. I have cut open many HD filters and if you do that you will see that there is no way that a stock filter will filter like a K&P.
I don't know guys, I've been a certified tech. and shop owner for 30 years, I wouldn't use a reusable, cleanable oil filter in my lawn mower. Dan Baisly may only send out his new builds with this filter but I'm the one who sees the motors come in when they fail. Just my 2 cents.
