I don't know guys, I've been a certified tech. and shop owner for 30 years, I wouldn't use a reusable, cleanable oil filter in my lawn mower. Dan Baisly may only send out his new builds with this filter but I'm the one who sees the motors come in when they fail. Just my 2 cents.
How many motors of Dan's have you seen fail? This is a serioius question as he has done work for me and my friends and he would want the feed back.
Joe, that one looks VERY close to the K&P Engineering but it is definately a knock off. I can't speak for the quality of it one way or the other but it isn't the K&P.

I was not referring to Dan's motors in particular. Dan builds good high performance motors. There were a lot of posts that this is the only filter that Dan sends his motors out with so they must be good. Does Dan see these motors after 50,000 miles, 75000 miles, I don't know, You would have to ask Dan. What I do know is that it only takes ONE piece of missed contaminate to start destroying a motor. The Absolute only way this filter can possibly be cleaned properly is by sealing the inside opening and back flushing it with pressurized CLEAN solvent. Any other way and you run the risk of getting particles on the inside of the filter element and then possibly into your motor. If you like gambling and a little Extra HP then go for it.

No offense but if you ever opened a stock filter and saw the filter media and patches of areas that literally provide no filtering you would not want to use them. I have sent in oil samples and using the K&P filter you do not get insolubles in the oil. More oil gets by passed in a stock filter then even close in a K&P. I have no stake in K&P or in Baisley but can tell you Dan is not going to jeopradize his reputation by recommending a faulty filter. Anything that is going to be big enough to destroy a motor is not getting past the filter media of the K&P.

No offense, I have cut open many filters and seen the crud that they collect, Then I promptly throw them into my recycling drum where they will do no harm. A piece of toilet paper will filter oil. What I'm refereeing to is the cleaning process, There is no way in the world the average person can clean these filters without getting contaminates on the inside of the filter where they can and will be sucked into the motor. As for the magnet it will not do a load of good for all the aluminum and other non ferris materials used in motor. If you do not mind playing Russian roulette then have fun. And thats the truth.
