Go and get it.I've had bikes with & without and wouldn't live without.
I put it on my 04 RK Custom & my friends 05 RK Custom, install is easy about 3 hours, just check for cable lash set up for your exact bike.
My manual only goes to 2003 and was wrong for my 04 & 05.
once set up correctly it works flawlessly.
I'm looking in my 06 catalog and it has a picture of the controls. It looks like the CC *****/switches are in the same place as the stereo controls. What happens to the stereo controls on the new controls?
No more numb fingers and cramping hands. The difference in overall fatigue between keeping the throttle twisted yourself and the cruise doing it is incredible. I got the RK Classic so it's standard but like everyone has said it's my understanding that it's a simple install. Well worth it.
And if you're going through a speed trap (hello highway 40 in N. Florida) set the cruise and you don't have to worry about "wandering" above the speed limit.
I used my cruise control on the 101 here in AZ around Scottsdale when they turned on the new speeder cameras. Man those things were popping all over the place from all the cars flying by me cruising at the speed limit. I think it was in the grace period so there would not have been any tickets (then, they went after someone that was clocked at over 100 mph) but they would not have gotten me.
I got my Street Glide with cruise control pre-installed. I use it all the time. Not only is it a wrist-saver on the superslabs but you do get great mileage. Interestingly, I don't only use it in 5th gear. On PCH near where I live in LA the cops are swarming on the weekends so I set my speed to 5 mph above the speed limit, hit the cruise control and everything in the universe is perfect!
