Added CC to my '06 EGC this weekend. Took me forever!!
I know which end of a wrench to hold but this is my first HD and I'd never even taken the seat off it before. Had to keep going to the service manual to find each and every screw I had to remove.
Instead of confessing every stupid mistakemade, I just want to say it is POSSIBLE to install one in 3 hours, but if you've have to read the Service Manualto take the seat and saddle bags off, give yourselftwice as long.
And don't drop the Throttle Cable Ferrels!!!!!

Adding cruise control is a personal choice. It all depends on what kind of riding you do. Most of us who own touring bikes will do just that, travel long distances on them.

I just installed one this October. One of the best upgrades to my bike. The worst part for me was having to replace the front brake switch after I broke the tip off. The ignition switch is a PITA as well. As long as you have your service manual with you, you will not have any problems.

I was soooo gonna praise the cruise control when I saw your post.

I just changed form a throttle rocker on my Deluxe to Cruise Control on my Ultra.....OMG....The cruise is sooooo worth it. Rode home last night 50 miles with the cruise set. Sweet! Was going to take side roads but Hubby got a flat and was towed so I ended up on the freeway....It's wonderful for super slab runs.

ORIGINAL: Scout

Put down the crack pipe boys!!!

It's crap! You swing into corners faster than you want too, and then have to hit the brakes. You are supposed to speed out of corners, not into corners. It's slow response speeding up, and therefor you are always off your buddies natural pace.

Adjust your throttle cables so that you are more free with your response time for speed adjustments, and it's easier on the wrist.

Crap, Crap, Crap. Don't waste your money.

Oh, and did I say it was crap and a waste of money?

Scout,

When HD offerred CC I was in your camp - I figured cruise on a motorcycle was about as useless as teats on a roadgrader. I'm not driving an RV, I'm riding a scooter. After hearing Ultra buddies praise it for years, I finally caved in and had CC added when I got the '07 EGC. After having it for a year, I won't have another touring bike without it. I probably don't use it as much as others do but it sure is the cat's a$$ on the superslab. There is a time and place for using cruise control and riding on the twisty two laners is not one of those places!
