Coming back from MS yesterday I was using my cruise most of the way, coming down a hil at about 80mph my cruise just disengages itself,it did this 3 or 4 times. Almost 20,000mi and it has never done this before. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Any help would be great.
Mine did this on the rollers coming home from DV. I think it was backing off the throttle enough to trip the roll-off switch. I'd just thumb resume and it would be OK until the next set of rollers.
I used to have instructions for cruise lash adjustment but I've searched my computer just now and cannot find them. You should be able to find the instructions in your service manual, it may help.
This is all good information. I found out by accident that mine will disengage when I roll the throttle clock wise (deacelerating). It was nice to know when I found it out. I use that feature to turn it off rather that hitting my brakes.

Had the same problem on the way back from Sturgis this summer - 28,000 km (about 17,000 miles) on the bike. Cruise would work for a while then suddenly just disconnect itself like I rolled off on the throttle or touched the brakes. It would reset, then just go out again on me. When I got home I had the dealer look at it, they replaced the "cruise control idle roll off cable" - covered under the extended warranty, no charge.
