So right now working on installing the music intercom set on my 09 FLHX. Decided to get the CB while I am already in the front fairing anyway, and sometimes go on long rides with ultras and wings. My question is do you have to use VOX on the intercom system or can you use the PTT button or VOX if you choose? The information in the manual is very vauge. Thanks for the help.
On mine, I can use either. Often I have the squelch up high while on the highway to avoid triggering and my wife and I must shout to overcome the squelch. Sometimes I will use the ptt to keep from having to shout. When in the city or where navigation is required I lower the squelch to lock on the intercom.
It takes some adjustment to get it like you like it. Volume for each function is also important.
Thank You all for the help, now just have to wait for UPS to deliver and try to figure out the wiring on the PTT switch, should not be too hard. Removing all the stuff was a snap, lets see how the installation goes.
If you purchased the Boom Audio Music Intercom Kit, (there are two; I used p/n 77108-09), it will come with complete left hand switches/harness/housings so its a simple swap of what you have on the bike now--plug and play.
If you are adding the PTT/squelch switch to your current left hand switches, take some pictures and do a write-up to post in a new thread.
In any case, take some pictures and do a write-up to post in a new thread on how you did the installation. My installation of the BAMI kit is in this thread:
Harley Pingman, I purchased the 77107-09 (did'nt think about the cb until after the order), I was unaware it came with the harness (left switch) that is great news. Thank you for your write up, that is one of the reasons I did mine, after consulting yours here and there. I plan to take as many pictures as possible, so persons with a newer model bike can use it. Will PM you if I need it thanks for the offer.
I am riding a 09 ultra and use the intercom and CB regularly with other riders. I always use the PTT and never use the vox (personal preference), so you can go the way you want on it.
