Having the same problem....Currently have a 98 RKC...thinking of trading/selling and buying either a new RK or a SG....I like the looks of the SG...but not sold on the batwin all the time....Have loved my RK....I was just looking for to take advantage of the new technology....larger motor.....Who knows....may end up keeping my reliable 98......while the economy destroys HD....

I think I'm gonna start calling it nuclear meltdown.

I had a RK and liked the quick changes you could make, but I really like the comfort of a batwing.
Also everyone knows that black is a slower color because it collects dust easier.

if you need a stereo and fairing mounted to your handlebars do yourself a favor and buy a car.

I think the SG is a great looking harley. I could have gone either way, but got an 09 RK this year. Since I was on the fence the RK was 2 grand less. Mostly for me it was that from the rider's perspective you're behind a plastic automotive-like console with the SG. I like the my RK's more open view to front. I've been really happy with my choice. I guess you'd need to get them each to speed and see what moves you.

I am always amazed that some of these posts never die. This one started back in august of 2006 and he did buy an 07 Road King. Choices are still the same and I wonder if he is still happy with his Road King. I had a Road King and went to the SG most likely just because it wasn't the same bike. Of course with 10 years difference, the new SG did ride a bit better and I like the gauges and radio. It was mentioned that the radio sucks but replace it with a better one when it dies. I for one never took off my windshield on the king because I didn't really like getting hit with flying debris and bugs so the riding in the wind theory pretty much goes out the door on a tour bike. Rides are probably about the same so people just need to sit and ride both to really make up their minds. It could even come down to a seat (and we know all harley seats are junk). You know, as much as we complain about stock junk from Harley, makes you wonder whey we keep buying. I would love to have a nice comfortable seat, not have to put 2 grand in pipes, ac and tuner to make it run "right" or "cooler". Yep, what was the conversation about again?

It's all too easy to slam someone's choice. I've got no problem with the King, almost bought a custom when the street glide came out. Took the shorty shocks off because I like to ride briskly around corners and on the long rides preferred to have some suspension. Again, we can slam someone's choice, example: You've got some people who buy these bikes for their butt jewelry value, not their riding value, but again, that's their choice.

My vote is the Streetglide as I feel its a better value for the money and love having the protection of the batwing as well as the tunes on the longer rides. Do get me wrong the Roadking is a great bike but again for about the same money you get more bike. A great way to make sure is to rent one of each for a day and put some serious miles on each, money well spent. Good Luck both awesome bikes.

Both! Of course, I'm convinced the RK Custom was the predecessor to the SG, since it uses much of the same hardware. If I could've afforded a SG, I would have bought one. I ended up with the RK Custom and am very happy with it!
