They are all nice bikes. I even started to like Road Glides which I never thought I would. Might be my next ride, who knows.

Good luck on your decision.

You'll find the peeps with the Road Kings will tell you to get a RK, and the peeps with the Street Glide will tell you to get a SG.
When I was buying my bike last year, I had the same hard decision your going thru. Being away from a Harley for 15 years, I thought I knew what I wanted..........until I got to the showroom and started looking around.
The ability to pull the windshield and bags off a RK really appealed to me. It was like having two different bikes. The Street Glide has that "hot-rod" stance to it, which also appealed to me too. But after riding both bikes, and a few others too, I decided on the Road King for ME.
Don't think I would be happy being "stuck" behind a windshield 24/7. But I have found that having the bags on 24/7 sure is nice

Personally, the idea of having a radio never crossed my mind. I just don't see it, but many have them and love them. But as was mentioned, the factory HK stereo leaves alot to be desired, especially with all the problems reported.https://www.hdforums.com/m_632973/tm.htm
I also will tell you that I thought having cruise control on a bike was a stupid idea.............But after riding with it, I'll never have another bike without it[8D] Go figure? It sure is nice on the highway

In closing, there is only one KING

Thanks for the replies, I think I've made up my mind on a King. I think it will be the best choice for me for the following reasons. I like the ability to pop off the shield in a few seconds to get the wind in the face if cruising arond town but want it on for the long hauls. I think the Kings look BAD without the shield on with the big headlite and the passing lights. If I really want a fairing down the road I can put on a batwing off Ebay or one of the aftermarkets. I don't care that much about having a radio/CD, if I want to I'll get an IPOD and helmet speakers (3/4 helmet). I was looking at the prices, seems like if someone bought an Electra Standard and lowered the rear, took off the passing lights and didn't mind not having a radio they'd have a Street Glide with chrome trim on the front fender but they'd still have $2200 in their pocket for some other goodies. Now I gotta decide on a color...

I also think that the Black Cherry is nice. That is what I was going to get but wound up at another dealer that didnt have it in stock and I wanted my bike RIGHT NOW. So here I am with a Brandywine. I like the color but it sounds kind of sissy like. They couldnt name it Jet blast red or nuclear meltdown? Something macho? Brandywine? LOL Hell just go ahead and name it Evening Blush or Gentle Smile. I like it though,,,,,Brandywine

i thought RK was the way for me as well.... and when i bought this bike i swore that i would NEVER ride w/ the windshield on because i like how the roadking looks w/it off..... After putting the windshield on a few weeks after having my bike I NEVER take it off..... I dont really like how my bike looks w/it on but being 6'4" 240lbs I'm pretty much feel like a billboard when there is no windshield on.....Going 60mph w/ no shield just wont work for me......

Now i'm kicking myself for not buying the street glide...... I've looked into trading my 6 month old 06 road king on an 07 street glide and even w/ my pipes on each dealer will only give me $14,000 as a trade in value .............. so i'm taking a pretty big hit just to have that front fairing.

Make sure you know which one so your not 2nd guessing yourself

I thought about putting a a deadcenter or quadzilla fairing on my road king but the after market fairings have poor radios and no guages and run about $1500 then you have to get them painted.

Not to mention the street glide is an extremely bad azz looking bike.

I was at Eastern Performance last week and saw the baddest stree glide there.... The owner of EP has a blacked out 06 with the detachable tourpak and that is one awesome looking bike ---- i was sold as soon as i saw his

My first Harley was a Road King. My current ride is an Ultra Classic. When I had my roadking I always wanted a stereo. I took my roadking on a couple of trips and really knew that I wanted a radio . Check both bikes out, I too think the Streetglide is a great looking bike. Dont forget the Roadglide.

Garrison - have you checked Ebay for OEM batwings? Seems like I've seen them on there for a few hundred, they may need a little work and paint but you would be thousands ahead by going that route vs. trading. Stick a Sony marine radio in it, better than the factory by far. No CD, but I've had close calls in my F350 screwing around with CD's and I don't think I want to do that on a bike. Good luck.
