Road King vs Street Glide
When I was buying my bike last year, I had the same hard decision your going thru. Being away from a Harley for 15 years, I thought I knew what I wanted..........until I got to the showroom and started looking around.
The ability to pull the windshield and bags off a RK really appealed to me. It was like having two different bikes. The Street Glide has that "hot-rod" stance to it, which also appealed to me too. But after riding both bikes, and a few others too, I decided on the Road King for ME.
Don't think I would be happy being "stuck" behind a windshield 24/7. But I have found that having the bags on 24/7 sure is nice

Personally, the idea of having a radio never crossed my mind. I just don't see it, but many have them and love them. But as was mentioned, the factory HK stereo leaves alot to be desired, especially with all the problems reported.https://www.hdforums.com/m_632973/tm.htm
I also will tell you that I thought having cruise control on a bike was a stupid idea.............But after riding with it, I'll never have another bike without it[8D] Go figure?
It sure is nice on the highway
In closing, there is only one KING
Now i'm kicking myself for not buying the street glide...... I've looked into trading my 6 month old 06 road king on an 07 street glide and even w/ my pipes on each dealer will only give me $14,000 as a trade in value .............. so i'm taking a pretty big hit just to have that front fairing.
Make sure you know which one so your not 2nd guessing yourself
I thought about putting a a deadcenter or quadzilla fairing on my road king but the after market fairings have poor radios and no guages and run about $1500 then you have to get them painted.
Not to mention the street glide is an extremely bad azz looking bike.
I was at Eastern Performance last week and saw the baddest stree glide there.... The owner of EP has a blacked out 06 with the detachable tourpak and that is one awesome looking bike ---- i was sold as soon as i saw his
