SILVERSTAR review
I have a 2000 roadking classic, are the lights on mine sealed or can i replace them with the silverstars?
I run unfluted (clear) aircraft landing lights in my spots. I am currently running 30 watt bulbs, which are the same as stock. They put out a sharper beam on the road and do not disperse it in the ditches like the stock bulbs did. I tried some 100 watters, but they blinded everyone on the road. You can get them at NAPA, Tractor Supply and so on. They are about 9 bucks each.

But, SilverStar does not make an 880 bulb! Thats not to say you can't get a Phillips or GE or some other 880 bulb at 55 watts!
If you do not upgrade to the 880 bulb at 55 watts, then your only other choice is to go with the H-D 68208-98A for some $68 or $70 a set. Then you can use the SilverStar H-3 bulbs rated at 55 watts.
RAM,
Then what is this right off the SYLVANIAwebsite?????
And the 880ST MATCHES the stock lamp draw - 27 watts / 2.1 amps. They match up perfect with the H4ST - same color temp.

Ok, SilverStar makes the bulb in the stock wattage. I have to admit that I was unaware that SilverStar made a stock wattage lamp for the H-D stock lamp enclosure until now.
I was thinking 55watts for a SylviniaSilverStar in that bulb base configuration I just didnât type it!
Higher then stock wattage ratings are available for an 880 but not through Sylvinia, that was my intent was to convey.
Thanks for the correction and the new info.
The main headlight is definately whiter and seems to light up the road better than stock.

Glad to increase our knowledge base - sometimes it takes awhile to figure out what is what - and this lighting thingwas a real black hole.

AGREE 150%!!!! Clear lenses in the turns with 1157A ST and 1156A STbulbs looks sharp - especially when OFF. Makes the amber lenses look el cheapo.
I just put the H4ST headlamp in and boy does it look nice - what a HUGE difference inappearancealone, anxious to try it out (won't be today - feels likesingle digit wind chill here in Northeast WI).Bright white with just ahint of blue!!! It takes about three minutes to do this job - piece of cake. $20M smackers for a scoot and they use cheapa$$ lights - go figure. Maybe that's how they boost the company stock price.
And HOLY MOSES, when I looked at the spots/aux lamps now, appears somebody emptiedtheir bladder inside them [:-][:-][:-]
I'm dumping those. Should look/work real nice with the same color 4000K lights all around.
RAM or others:
Can you guys confirm that the 68208-98A kit allows you to replace the bulbs with an 880ST??? The 880ST "appears" to have a socket connectionwhereas the stock bulbshave two slide on wire tabs. Is there a pos and neg??? What is the setup on the 68208-98A kit??? I'm easily confused
[8D][>:]And it is VERY OBVIOUS that these spot/aux lamps in an '05 Ultraare completely sealed.
THANKS once again for the invaluable tips - very much appreciated - happy camper here

I know this cause I work at one of these stores. Also, we get very few Silverstars returned as defective. If they do come back its normally for one oftwo reasons. 1- Customer touched the glass part of the bulb during installation. This caused oil from the hands to tranfer to the bulb causing a hot spot on the bulb which shortens the bulbs life exponentially. 2- Moisture got into headlight assembly when bulb was on causing it to prematurely burn out. So, even though its usually the customers fault the bulb failed the company still honors the warranty.
I've been using a Silverstar 9003, same as a H4, in my Ultra for over 2 years now without any problems...
