Default LED load eq and TSSM question

hopefully Hog Doc is online and can answer this one. I recently installed LED rear signals and have read up that I need a load eq. If so do I need multiple ones for each light? also I am going to replace the front signals as well so will I need one for front and one for rear? Also the other day while riding my tach, speedo, gauges stopped working and a red key was on on the speedo. The bike ran normal, I rode home and put it up. The next day I went out and started it up and every thing worked fine. I have the circular Key FOBs but never use that system. Any input? Thanks Chris

You do need a load equalizer, but just one. The BEST thing to do would be to get the Badlands Illuminatorrun/turn/brake controller with built in l/e and it's alarm compatible. It's plug & play too.

I hate Kuryaken stuff but as long as your bike is not a 2010 they have a plug and play load eqaulizer pair that plugs in at the rear lighting plug under the seat, it sets up one for each side and covers front and rear.

You will most likely have to replace the equalizers them selves about once a year as they tend to burn out.

Like Shrink said, the equalizer is built in and it's electronic so there isn't any heat created. What year is your bike? '07 and up arm the security automatically where you have to push a button on the pre-'07 fob to arm them. I ask because I had the same thing happen to me once on my '07. The dash/gauge lights were lit like I just switched on the ignition but hadn't started the bike yet even though I was rolling down the highway.

Kury is junk and overheats, that's why you have to replace them at least annually. If you want it done right, get the Badlands Illuminator and yes, it has a built in load equalizer and it's plug & play. It won't overheat and you can actually run your flashers without worry. Try that with Kuryakyn.

I did a bunch of research and took some good advice from the forum.
Like The Shrink said , get the Badlands Illuminator and be done with it.
Just plug it in and add LED lighting as you require , it will do the work for you.
It was one of the only units that took the TSSM into consideration and causes zero problems.
Good stuff , and well built.

+1 on Badlands..Been running it since it came out, LEDs front, rear and brake and no problems. It'll handle all the LEDs you want and NO HEAT!

Yep +another for the Badlands, forgot about them since the parts dept where Iam at now likes the Kury crap. We used Badlands all the time at my old shop. Very few problems with them!
