Default Saddlebag Lids vs. Boots

Is there anything out there that works good at polishing out boot scuff marks on (black) saddlebag lids ? Tried the Turtle wax Black w/ no luck.

Your best bet is to get some lid covers. I ride solo so I dont have to worry about scuff marks, but if i had a passenger most of the time i would get some covers.

Make your rider wear non marring boots. My bike is white and the wife wears HD boots and has never left a mark. Could also be the way your rider is getting on and off. Try pledge furniture polish, it might take them off.

Another option is to cover your lids with a clear bra product called Motorcycle Armor http://www.motorcyclearmor.com/index.htm which will hide existing scratches and prevent future ones.

Clay magic or Mothers gold clay bar and a spray bottle of quick detail should work. Then a good coat of wax. Maybe lid covers after that.

I use maguires cleaner wax. my UC 105th anni has the inner section on top of the hard bags painted vivid black. my wife is careful, but scuffs it sometime with her boots. A little elbow grease with the cleaner wax takes it out. It's clearcoated, so I don't want to use anything abrasive.

I had just installed some extended bagsd on my '06 SG and decided to freshen up the lids. After 37,000 mi, their were scuff marks including some small scratches I could feel with my fingernail. I was anticipating they'd need to be re-shot.

Took 'em down to the body shop the local dealership uses for paint. I watched the guy behind the counter put a liberal amount of goop on a rag, and voila...the scratches were no longer white....in fact, I could barely make them out. What was it? 3M buffing compound, available at most auto parts stores. I'm gonna follow-up with some Wizards's polish and paint sealant and declare victory!
