Went to get on my bike today and it wont start?, turn the ignition "on" and push the "start" button and nothing happends.(no cranking or nothing) the kill switch is in the "run" position, and I hear the fuel pump when the ignition is turned on,the battery is up/lights good and bright, multi-meter shows 12.2volts at batt, I did check the starter silinoid and nothing there either when pushing start button,.checked all fuses too. Its either the "start button" itself or the security system/key fob. oohh, I did replace batt in key fob too. but one thing I do notice is when I get on the bike with key fob, isnt the "key light" in dash suppose to go off after a few seconds? also the turn signals are doing the "wig wag" about 5-6 times still with the key light flashing?? anyone familiar with this ??
You said you changed the battery in the FOB. This might sound stupid,(not to me 'cause I did it) check to make sure you put the battery in the FOB correctly, not upside down.
Dan
If the Fob's are not working, try to do the Alarm bypass with the turn signals...Procedure is in your manual.
That will tell you if the Fob's are not working or you have another problem. With the Turn Signals wig-wagging, sounds like the Alarm is not being deactivated.
I did double check the battery, making sure it was installed properly, and I did try the other fob, but still no action. I am going back to the garage now to the alarm bypass. Thanks...
1) Clean the battery terminals. Mine looked perfect from the outside, but were corroded on the inside. Caused all kinds of grief (similar to what you've described- blinking signals, etc.) till I figured it out. After cleaning them the bike started & ran fine.
2) There's a small electrical switch (neutral safety switch, IIRC) on the top of the tranny with 2 wires going to it with black 90 deg connectors. Pop the connectors off & make sure there's no corrosion on them, put them back on (I shot a little WD-40 in them to prevent future corrosion) and see if it fires up.
