The fatcat was installed tonight. These are words that I never thought that I would be typing...hahaha! The install went "ok". I lost one of the nuts that mount the exhaust to the head. I heard it "tink" and then I never saw it again. Thankfully my buddy keeps his bike in the same storage building, so I took one off of his....LOL...what are friends for huh? I believe everything tightened up ok. It seemed the bolts that mount to the head were a little tough to get tightened. It seems like they could be tightened more, but when I fired it up I didn't hear any leakage.
Well I got everything together and tightened up. I fired it up and HOLY SH*T. This thing is loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It sounds like a freaking big block. It turns out that my old headpipes had the catalyst in them. I didn't get a chance to ride it yet, but hopefully I will tomorrow. I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow.
Carefully retighten the nuts that mount the exhaust to the head after you warm it up 7 let the pipes settle in so as not to have an exhaust leak, remember I said carefully.
Ok first and foremost, this thing is not mellow by any means. It does have the standard baffle in it and it's pretty freakin loud. I would say it kinda sounds like a damn drag car now. I definitely need to get my bike dyno'd again. All in all, I'm happy with the purchase so far. Next Saturday it's gonna hit the dyno, so we'll see how much of an improvement the fatcat is over my slip-ons.
I think so. I've ran a thunderheader on all my previous bikes. The Thunderheader is deeper sounding for sure, but I really don't think it's as loud as the Fatcat. I was literally shocked when I fired my bike up for the first time with the fatcat on.
