Maybe bad muffler bearings?????or low head light fluid?????or just that NORMAL Harley sound that everyone hears and freaks out about until they finally quit obsessing over it.....hence the "get louder pipes" comment from the stealer.

+1...if you check it with a DVOM, it should be in the neighborhood of 1.21 gigwatts, anything less and she's gonna make some noise

No, it ain't normal that your bike is making a continued clattering noise. You should be under wattanty. If so, call back your dealer and explain that the noise continues and you want it repaired. Be nice. If that dealer don't help ask around for a dealer with good mechanics and have that dealer take a look.
Also, if your running syn 3 think about changeing to a better synthetic oil.

Just ignore the wise asses

They're either probably already deaf from their loud pipes, or really bored with themselves. Some noises shouldn't be there. get it checked.

I just bought a 2005 FLHRCI. This is my second Harley, but the first with a windshield. I never heard my first one, but I hear this one. I asked about the noise from the top end. I was told it was the quietest they've heard for a while.... go figure
