Get the Harley kit, I have found some of the inexpensive chrome jobs on EBAY are junk, they look good at first but there is no copper under the nickle and it falls off.
When I did mine I just pulled the legs and took them to my local indy and had them change everything, only cost a few bucks extra.
I went with the HK kit for my '04 EG and my local dealer gave me a 20% discount to match Zanotti's price. The dealer also gave me a dollar-for-dollar credit on the chrome axle caps that are in the HD kit to apply to the HD fork slider end cover kit, p/n 46282-07:
Others have used flush mounted axles, etc. Your chooice.
You don't mention your year or model bike. The '04 and '05 fairing models have a cartridge in the left fork which is a pita to deal with; so I removed the lowers, took them to the dealer to swap the guts, then reinstalled the chrome lowers. I mention this because many will tell you the swap is not that difficult, but many are by posters who don't have the cartridge in the left fork.
I was planning on doing the same to my 09 Road Glide, mentioned it to a fellow rider and he said shy the will just get sandblasted by road grime and then look like crap after a couple of years. I asked the question a couple of hours later to another brother and he said almost the same exact thing. Then I looked at my 125ci 95 Fatboy sitting there and said your right, never did the change and do not regret it. The $400 yyou will spend to do it all can go a long ways towards things that will improve the performance.
