Wait, wait, wait, wait....
This weekend i met with the regional service director at an event and he took my business card and VIN# told me he would call me Tuesday...Sure enough Tuesday AM he called and said he spoke to MOCO and asked them to try something else as it had been 4 weeks
Later that day my service Mgr at Sheltons called and said they told him to put a SE high torque starter and try that so they ordered one.
Everytime it does the grinding noise i let go the starter button and i can hear the fuel pump re-priming so that has me baffled also....
At this point i will let them do what MOCO says as this is the way they will cover it under my ESP by the way that has paid for itself with this issue....Also had to replace the fuel sending unit....So for me the ESP was well worth it...
I also told the Service direct and my dealer service Mgr. that i will drive the bike and if it grinds it grinds and i will hold the damn button down until the SOB starts...I paid too much freakin money for this bike and the ESP that if it breaks down somebody will come and pick it up and fix it....I ride hard and will keep riding hard....The guy laughed and said ...Go for it that is what they are made for...
The reason i don't think it's the compensator sprocket is that it didn't do it for the first 42k miles so with replacing it with a new one it should fix it...I agree that a SE compensator would make it act different but it shouldn't fix the problem that wasn't there before...if the comp was worn out then a new one, (even stock) should've fixed it.
