I changed mine out a few weeks ago. I had to remove the ign. switch and lower cover. The outer fairing was also removed. The radio was removed to access the four allen head bolts that clamp the bars on. It really was not that hard but I have had my fairing apart a few times to have it painted and add the radio. (there are pictures of fairing all apart on my profile)
I added the klock werks ergo up bars and feel this is the best addition. I have ever made to my ride.

First step is to buy the manual. Second step is to look in the manual in the sections covering the removal of ignition switch, removal of fairing cap, removal of outer fairing, removal of radio, removal of switch housings and clutch and brake controls, and depending on if you need cable changes then you'll have to look up exhaust removal to get to the clutch release cover and then idle and throttle cables, etc.
