Hi,
I have a 05 ultra classic and want to switch out the stock handle bars for a set of 12 inch, How big of job is it to do the switch?

Get the HD manual first. I'd also suggest the -08 and later one piece top clamp as well as polyurethane bushings upon reinstall. You have to remove the outer fairing, inner fairing switch cap and ignition, pull the radio, drop the exhaust if stock crossover to gain access to tranny side cover for clutch cable change, have to change out the other cables and extend the wiring. Tedious, but not hard if you follow the manual and take your time.

It's not an easy job...i've done a few bar swaps. Internal wiring also complicates things. I guess it just depends on how confident you are with your wrench abilities. On a scale of 1-5, with 5 being most complicated, i'd give it a 3.5. The good thing is there is always help here on the forum if you get stuck.

I found the manual to generate more questions than answer....the pictorial DYI threads I've read here have been worth their weight in gold.
