Operating temp or room temp? The manual doesnt specify on this one. I know it is operating temp on engine and primary

Thanks

Don't mean to be a smart *** but....you check it?

I understand wanting to make sure it's at the proper level but as long as it's in the notch on the dipstick, your good.

Personally.... I drain it, replace with a full bottle ( 32 oz capacity) and then forget it until next time. Your tranny won't burn oil and if it's leaking...you'll know it.

I have never felt the need to check the oil level in my trans. I drain it and fill with 22oz repeat every 10,000 miles. If it's not leaking it's still full.

If you only fill it with 22oz, it ain't full... Just sayin'

I only ask because of my other thread where I have fluid dripping off my clutch cable. I want to see the rate of leakage..

Thanks for the info Hog-Doc

09 bagger= on the sidestand. Check your fluid guys. I'm doing a trans right now in an 02 Ultra. Guy has a breather hose off the head that runs down beside the trans side cover. He thought the oil was coming from that in mist form and clinging to the underneath of his bike.
His bike came in for noise in third gear- no fluid. None. Lower bolts were loose in trapdoor causing leak (not the first time I've seen this). It happened very slowly(probably over the course of 5k miles) and the oil never hit the floor in his garage. Goodbye $1000. 2 gears, 1 fork and all of the bearings, etc.
BTW, this guy was riding this bike regularly and when he called me about it, I told him it would be three weeks before I could get to it and not to ride it, I'd come get it in the trailer. I may have saved his life. It only takes a minute to check it.......
