FYI. I first had SG mirrors with the Kuryakyn chrome covers with LEDs, like Koala's .......until the stud of 1 mirror broke when I torqued it at the end of my install. <sigh>
I wasn't a happy camper to say the least! Not only the stud snapped but the mirror itself was loose at the swivel and there's not way to tighten it.
I managed to pull the covers from the mirrors without damaging them and I sold them. I bought these Kuryakyn Blind Spot mirrors instead and they're a big improvement. They're chrome metal, they're completely adjustable, they extend further out than the HDs, and they don't require a 2nd hole in the inner fairing because the wiring runs through the stem.
Well worth the price difference IMO.

Thanks for the info Frenchbiker, it's appreciated. I've still got the factory stock mirrors on my Ultra. I added the mirror extensions (http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...5&default=none) to get them up high enough so I wasn't looking at my elbows and that worked well enough but the stock mirrors still have a relatively narrow field of view. I hadn't really considered the fairing mounted mirrors, like the Street Glide comes with, until I discovered these http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...4&default=none and was been seriously considering them. I like the compound mirror idea. Then you folks posted about the Kuryakyn versions and I like the added bonus of the turn signal function included with the mirrors. It'll probably be a while but you folks have given me something else to think about on this subject!

Ride Safe,
Steve R.

Kind of like the third brake light (the one in the middle of the rear window or top of a pickup truck cab) was when they first started putting them on cars and trucks. They were a real eye catcher at the time. Now nobody notices them so much. Having said that, my eye is aways drawn toward the mirror mounted turn signals I see on luxury vehicles and some SUV's. I don't think it's a bad idea for motorcycles either if it's something the individual is interested in. I've not seen these Kuryakyn products before. The look pretty cool. I'll have to see them in person before I make a decision on them.

Steve,
I have the HD Fairing Mount mirrors with the Kuryakyn Chrome covers with LED signal lights.

At the time I spec'd my accessories out for ordering prior to ordering my bike, I was looking to enhance the look of the fairing mount mirrors. Didn't even really look for alternatives...

Default auxillary running light and turn signals on mirrors

I have the HD mirrors with auxillary running light and directional indicators along with the illuminated led Windshield molding kit on my 06 Ultra. Also had installed chrome high intensity moto lights fork mounted. That gives you eleven lights alone on the front. I like having more lights to be more visable. I mechanically challenged so had the dealer install them!! $$$. Sturdier than stock mirrors with no problems encounted with reliability.

Hope this link to my bike on youtube shows the auxillary lighting better for mirrors.

I have them and like them. If a car is beside you and you hit the signal it is just about window high
