I have a 1999 FLHTCI Classic was out for a ride today and front plug blew out, looked at threads and are thin at best. As I researched I found a product called "Timesert". It's a plug thread repair kit.
I wouldn't trust it for a spark plug. Used heads on ebay are cheap so I would go that route. Get a little work done on them, makes it worth the change.,,
Had this happen on my truck a few years back. I used the spark plug thread repair kit and never had another problem for as long as I owned the truck. I was very nervous doing this but it worked like a charm.
Timeserts work great, dont worry about it being a spark plug, there are probably hundreds of thousands of aluminum heads of all makes out there with Timeserts, Helicoil or some other thread repair insert.
They are actually stronger than the aluminum threads in the head!
Years ago I had a set of aluminum heads for an old high(er) compression Ford flathead V8 that had four of the eight plug holes repaired. I never had any problems with the plugs after they were repaired. However, I expect that if I had kept it (installed in a 1929 Model "A") much longer it would have got to eight out of eight.
I used a spark plug repair kit years ago, it was from KD tools. got another 50,000 miles out of my suv till some fool hit and totaled it, but engine was still going strong.
Was the spark plug loose for awhile? Or is your bike ultra high compression? I just pulled my plugs cause the bike was not quite right and it seems when I checked them 10,000 miles ago I only put them in snug (shame on me) so the threads and gaskets where loosing the ground and was messing with the spark. Any loser and they would have started wobbling and then they would have blown out. I have 48,000 miles and the plugs are just now showing the slightest amount of wear,I think I will put in new ones with a Torque wrench and anti seize. don over and out.
Used one on one of my cars awhile back and haven't had any problems since. Best to do it with the head off so you don't drop the metal shavings into the combustion chamber.

That's probably a good idea. I used a large straw (pixie stick straw I believe) that fit in the whole loosely, held the end of it to the suction of a shop vac and suctioned out anything that might have fallen into the cylinder.

My question is has anyone ever used it, results?
If so where in the Ohio area can I buy one?
Thanks Pan
Timeserts work great. The Lightning guys swear by them and install them just to make sure they don't blow plugs. I'd use them before replacing the heads. If you're installing them yourself, make sure the piston is not TDC when you ream out plug hole.
