I was given '07 all chromed front and rear wheels for an '07 RK. I have a '99. My local HD dealer said my front axle is 3/4" and the wheel has 1" bearings. I could change out the bearings but also heard there are sleeves I can slip in there. Anyone used them and any idea where to get them? Not sure what I am up against for the rear yet. I want to get rid of that funky rear rotor too.....
bearing and spacer swap for the front. think the same for the rear. I went with a newer front wheel on my RK, but I swapped the lower fork legs, spacers, axle and brakes so I can update to Brembos when the budget allows.
I am also doing a swingarm swap out rear, but I think you can get away with just bearings and the spacer out back. There are a few kits on ebay that have everything.
If you fit the 2007 rear wheel, as well as sorting out the difference in bearing size, your current pulley will not fit. The hole in the centre is smaller, although the five bolt holes are the same. So you could machine out that hole to fit the 07 wheel.
I have a 2007 swingarm in the rear of my 1990 FLHS, with a 2005 wheel, so I changed to the 1" axle with the later spec narrow pulley and a new belt. I used the narrower pulley and belt to make room for a 150/80 tyre!

Ya I figured the best way to go was to change the bearings on the front and make new spacers, I have a lathe so no problem, although the stock spacers from an 07 should work.. It appears the rotor spacing is not an issue but I haven't measured them out yet. I might be able to fit the pulley on my lathe and open that up also... Really appreciate all the response..!!! Also thought about going to new lowers... but then that leads to new calipers.
btw... grbrown, where did you get the round rubber mounts on your saddlebag support rails that fit into the grooves in the bottom of your saddlebags? Typically the rubbers are mounted to the bottom of the bags! Are you also saying the rear bearings need to be changed from 3/4" to 1" also... I thought the rear axle was 1" on a 99... I haven't had the bike very long. Been building customs for quite a few years now and this is my 1st RK.

You're obviously very well set up! Doesn't sound as if there is anything you can't tackle with this job.
I think the 1" bearings were introduced around 2002, when Harley also went from tapered roller to sealed type, so your bike probably has 3/4". I understand they make bearing kits to convert later wheels for 3/4", 1" and also 25mm bearings.
The rubber mounts are original tubes and came with the bike, which is a 1990 FLHS.
I would recommend doing a rear swingarm swap and going with the 1" axle. The swingarm is WAY better, and has cam bolts to adjust the belt vs the old school bolts on either side. I have all the parts to do the rear of my bike when I get back from Laughlin, just not sure if I am going to use brass bushings inside of the stock 02 swingarm bearings or order the stabo3 kit instead. I am sure you could get the rear swingarm, axle, spacers for dirt cheap from someone that did a trike conversion. I think I paid less then $100.00 for my rear swinger/brakes/axle and spacers.
