Default Using Ipod question

I'm trying to setup using my Ipod through my radio for the first time. I have an Ipod Shuffle. When I plug into the aux port I get the music but I have to turn up volume just about all the way to hear it loud enough. And it just doesn't sound that clear and crisp. Anyone have any ideas? Something with the connection? I have a 12" aux cable connectio Ipod to radio. Thnx.

Is it the new style that has the volume on the headphone wire ? If it is, that is why. There is another thread about this - Just throw IPOD SHUFFLE in the search..If its the older one..Mine (the wives-I am looking for an older one formyself) cranks to all hell through my aux on the HK.
