I know, I know, upgrade. Anyhow, in the meantime, what music files play in the CD on a 2005 Ultra. wav,mp3 what?
Won't make a whole lot of difference once you get in the wind on a motorcycle but since you asked . . WAV, AIFF or FlAC all lossless formats or uncompressed formats. These formats are exact copies of the original source. UPGRADE! lol
I could be wrong but if memory serves me correctly, I don't think the 05 Radio Sound head unit supports playing MP3 or any other format other than std CD files from the CD. There is an aux input to plug your iPod into though.

I remember in the past I had trouble with formats that was why I posted this question. The owners manual is a joke.
Anyhow, (and don't get offended here, lol) why does everybody I talk to these days assume I have an Ipod? Suggestions here all go to Ipod, stop at the dealer and one of the fist things the salesman shows me on the '14 limited is where to plug in my Ipod! Thinking I am going to have to google Ipod and see what I am missing!lol Best get out of the seventies and the cassette tapes which was such an improvement over my 8-tracks.
I honestly can't tell you the last time I used a CD in anything I own. too easy to use the iPod and let me state for the record I hate APPLE and it's products but it is the best out there for music.

I am actually faced with a real dilemma here. I am dragging my heals to upgrade the sound on this 05 Ultra because my wife says if I really want to we can just get a new 14 or 15 ultra this winter! But not if I spend a grand on a decent radio for this one.
you won't spend anywhere near a grand on audio upgrades.
get you an amp and 2 pair of speakers. that'll run you about $350 tops and we'll help you get it installed.. now you can enjoy your tunes until winter and get a new one if that's what you want.
