I had the same problem with my bike. The problem was not the controller it was the volume switch in the handle bar. I had to the take the housing apart and buy some electical cleaner from the auto parts store. I first tried to just spray the cleaner in without taking it all apart. That worked for a few days but it ended up doing the same thing after a few days.
Take the housing apart and clean the contacts. You will be all set.
first of all thank you for helping me. I follow your advice and you were right, we found a cut wire before the switch at the right hand control.
We fix it and the right hand control start operating. Now the problem that I have is that the left hand control pushing up is seeking and when pushing down is adjusting the volume (down).the right control is seeking as it should.
I think that we made accidentally a wrong adjustment to the module, at our desperate tests to fix the previous problem.
We tried again to do the reset as the manual, taking off the negative pole of the battery, but again after five minutes the problem was still exist.
So how can I do a full reset to the module? Is it a solution?
i contact the company and i think that i am the first that i have this problem,so i have to wait them to find a solution.they are very helpfull!
did you set the dip switches on the biketronics unit to match your radio?
yes i did.i set the switch for kenwood unit as it is mine.!

there is not a reset button on the module.
finally i fix it.there was and a second cut on the wire of the left control.very small less than 1mm.i found it and i fix it.
at the biggining the module was set from the company to use the avc(auto volume control)and the module was setting the volume by it self even if i wasn't riding the bike.now i set of the avc and is working perfect.that was happening because as i had opened the frond cover of the bike and the module is very sensitive was adjusting the volume according to the noise of the street.when i close the cover nothing was happening.now i have only to set on the avc and go for a ride to test it.
thank you for your advices, and for the quick respond!
sorry for my bad english!!!!!!!!!!!!
you install according to the manual as it is and you can use them.
the problems that i found wasn't from the module but from my bike.all of these years i never use the controls or never chek the wires so there were a little damages.
now i use the handcontrols of my bike like the original radiocd unit of harley.
it is compatible with ALPINE units.the only think that you will have to do is to set the module as the manual advice you,for ALPINE unit.
also you must know if your unit is compatible on streering control function.
take a look at the site of BIKETRONICS.COM and you will see.
they are very helpfull.
i hope i helped you!
Humm, I had a sony mexbt3700 and changed to a sony mexbt3900 , the radio works, but now the hand controls don't, had the battery unplugged, hooked it all back together, hand controls still don't work, I have the bt1000 c, it worked before I changed the radio!
How did you clean the contacts of a hermetically sealed switch?
For an Alpine unit set the rotary switch on the module to "3". You must do this with power off and the module disconnected. The only problem I cannot turn the unit off using the right hand switch, I am waiting till this winter to remove it and troubleshoot it.
