Touring tracking
Wasn't sure how to title this post. A buddy of mine has an Ultra Classic. He can put her on cruise and take his hands off the bars and just cruise along. My 02 RK won't do that. No cruise, but tightening down the throttle lock and letting go makes the bike veer left. I have to lean everything right in order to ride. Something wrong with the bike, or am I just not sitting square on her?
YOU STILL HAVE TO INPUT SOME STEERING WITH YOUR BODY. THE BIKE WILL NOT JUST ROLL PERFECTLY DOWN THE ROAD WITHOUT SOME STEERING INPUT. THE ROAD IT SELF WILL PREVENT THAT JUST FROM UNEVENESS OF THE PAVEMENT. REALLY AFTER ABOUT 65-70MPH THE BARS ARE JUST A PLACE TO REST YOUR HANDS. THERE IS MORE FORCE ON THE WHEELS AT THAT POINT THAN YOU COULD EVER DO WITH YOUR HANDS.
Mack, I agree that body is needed, just as when we used to do the same with bicycles. But no amount of body will keep 'Annie' from veering left.
Nine, wasn't talking about riding from Vegas to LA that way. Sometimes it's a rest to be able to stretch both arms at the same time without worrying about going down. Oh, and by the way, you can still turn the throttle with the lock on, you just have to apply more force.

you say RK, then you have a windshield. Is the shield centered perfectly on the bike and the mounting hardware? How do you have the balance in the bags? Have you checked alignment of the rear tire? Have you checked alignment of the engine?

My RG runs straight down the road with no hands, i`ve had bikes that won`t also.
I carry about ten pounds of tools in my right saddle bag that prob helps, Harleys are heavy on the left side due to primary, clutch, ect....
As said also check wheel alignment and it is a very dangerous thing to do, one bump and your forks could go into a out of control wobble.
Be careful.
