I think that this practice is extremely dangerous and just plain stupid. Anyone that spends any amount of time on the road should know that people are in a hurry and will do just about anything to get to where they need to go in faster fashion. Using a blocker in the way as described is a recipe for a road rage disaster. If your group is holding up traffic move the hell over. Everyone remember although many of us look like bad *** bikers, we are the minority and a vehicle with 4 wheels will always come out on top. There is no telling what any motorist will do at any given time. The world is full of stupid people. RIDE SAFE and responsibly

If i come up on someone or some small club or group blocking traffic like that you get passed however i/we choose, right or left, as we are almost always running fast. Just have sense enough to get out of the way.
I guess you could say that I pretty much only ride in Unorganized group rides...IE meaning that we have a set course and preselected "rally" points along the way with a designated leader and designated sweep and from there everyone pretty much rides their ride and when a rally point is reached they stay there until the sweep arrives or receive communication that it's ok to proceed to the next point and then they continue on to the next rally point until they reach the final destination...
The only time I have been part of a group that used blockers is with the PGR (Patriot Guard Riders) during a funeral escort and then in our state it is legal to block intersections for the funeral procession (if we already were in control of the intersection..IE if we come up on a red light we have to wait for it to change but we can block the other lanes from starting if the light changes before the funeral procession has cleared the intersection (and we usually have LEO support for those before hand)
The way it is described, on the highway, no way do we do it but on a state road with a truck lane going up hills and for short lengths we do just so nobody breaks up the pack and takes us out when the merge comes in. But, there is no way we are going under the speed limit when this occurs. On a major highway there is no way that this would happen with us that is just plain stupid.
As for the guys saying that they would run the bike over or ride their ***, THAT is a good way to find out how lucky you are. If anyone did that with my pack then they would have a nice wake up call.
No, just another way to get someone hurt or killed with the mentally unstable drivers out there that will revert to road rage if you so much as look at their lane. Just because we are on a motorcycle and in a group, doesn't give us the right to impede anyone or disobey the traffic laws
