Default Brake Light Stays on...

This seems simple, but I can't figure it out. I changed my bars, which meant that I had to change brake lines too. Ever since I put it all back together, filled with Dot 4 fluid, and bled the air out of the lines, and put the cap back on; the brake light stays on after I use the front brake. After pumping it a few times, it may go out. When I take the cap off of the reservoir and squeeze the brake, the light works as it should. As soon as the cap is screwed back on, same problem.

Any ideas? I appreciate the help!

Somehow you are moving the lever out of place or you have a loose wire on your stop light switch.

did you snap the little nipple on the brake light switch that the brake lever rests against when it is not pulled? It is VERY easy to break this switch when putting the hand controls back together.

You probably will have to buy a new $50 switch or do a search on here how some have fixed the switch by using a set screw in it's place.

+1. Same exact thing happened to me on my last bike. Nipple wasn't making contact to kill the brake light when I released.

I will have to check that out. Why would it work fine when the cap is off of the reservoir? This is what led me to think that it was a pressure thing.

Did the same here. Put the piece of cardboard in between the
lever per manual. Remove the lever mount and look to see if
the nipple is sticking out. If not, I removed the top cover on
my housing. The switch was held in place by a metal clip. I used
a flat tip screwdriver and was able to move the switch
forward a little less than a 1/8th in. Worked since.
