Last fall I had a stage 1 upgrade including SE air cleaner, Monster Oval mufflers and SERT. Done all at once at the dealer with a dyno run performed. I thought it smelled rich at the time but didn't worry about it since it ran well and the dyno chart showed improvement in hp and tq. Today a few riders behind me said their eyes burned from the rich fumes and they saw a small bit of visible smoke when I engine braked down a long hill. I've got 10,000 miles, done all services and the motor seems strong. Burns no oil. It's not oil smoke but the result of running rich. The smoke was only visible during engine braking but it still smells rich to me. Is this the normal result of someone retuning my bike to overcome the factory lean setting or does it sound like it may be too rich?

Check your spark plugs for excess carbon. This is the best way to tell without a sniffer.

 

the whole idea of doing a dyno is to get everything set right,if it was just ran on the dyno for hp and Tq without tuneing you'r more then likely are running rich.....Yep check the plugs.....

 

What MPG are you getting?

 

MPG dropped from about 39 to about 37.
