Default Wheel Bearing Failure

I burned up rear wheel bearing on my way to Thunder Beach. I'm was just under 25,000 miles on my '08 FLHX. This seems early for a bearing problem. Anybody have experience with a problem like this, or know what might have caused the problem?

I had a rear wheel bearing failure at 12000 miles ,Sunday on my '09 Road King. Had 10000 mile service done in April. Found out my HOG emergency towing is only good 50 miles from home. I'm not impressed with Harleys quality. I like their service, but see them too much

This is the worse possible failure while riding.

Did they lock-up or did the bike still roll? How did you know?

It does not seem right to have bearings go out with no more miles than you guys are reporting. I had 35,000 on my RK Classic and never had a bearing failure.

On the big Honda's like the Valkyrie we "preventative maintenance" them at a tire change around 65K.

Under 30K? shouldn't be. Not that I think there's anything wrong with your bike, it's just Harley cheaping it out again on parts you can't see.

How do you PM a sealed bearing? I thought those were 100k mile bearings.
