Not completely true. The metallics are all two or three stage paints, but not so for the black. I'm not completely sure about the HD paints, but most simple, non-metallic paint colors like black, white, bright red, are single stage with no clear coat on top of them. Anyhow, the purpose of a colored wax IS to hide the problem. The only thing that will correct the problem is a compound, polish or glaze to remove the scratches. Just my 2 cents.

I'm looked through this thread and all the comments refer to painted surfaces. I'm probably going to show my ignorance a little, but I have to assume the fiberglass parts (fairing, saddlebags, etc.) have a clearcoat on them also? Is the black box safe to use on those parts? Reason I ask is prior to my Electra Glide I had a V-Star Custom and made the mistake of using a very little bit of white rubbing compound on the back fender (plastic) and regretted it as soon as I touched the rag to the swirls,,,
Thanks.

I'm doing my paint correction today on my blk 07. The stuff is pretty good. I'm using a foam pad with the cleaner wax to run down some scuffs. It does not make dust.

I used it a few times, but in the end could and have got just as good a shine with Mcguire's.
