Guys I have to say, after 100 miles on the 07 SG, I am less than impressed.
As delivered ride is miserable, went 5 miles on the highway at 75 mph after a big back road loop and literally took the first exit I could find. Stop light traffic is fine, but for a tourer, not sure why this is such a back breaker
Hard on the passenger tail, buffeting wind over the short windshield to the point I shut the radio off and just endured the noise for a bit, and overall ride that I'd equate to a Sporty more than a Glide
This is an 07 with 170 miles on it.
Ideas? Will other seats swap? Will a higher windshield make a noticeable difference? opinions on anything else? a bit disappointed today, sort of a pretty Bi___ with a bad ride
Thanks in advance, will be talking to the dealer tomorrow for his ideas too
I have an 06 SG with about 3K miles. Still using the stock seat but may buy a Sundowner. I tried out my friends on my bike and liked it. Mustang seats are good too. Had one on my 01 Road King. Loved it. I have a regular clear H/D touring windshield for winter. Not sure of the inches except it's the standard Electra Glide windshield. I use a 8" Fastaire dark tint for now. I'm 6'1" and it sends the air just above my helmet. Check the air pressure in your rear shocks. Use a hand pump to adjust. Only thing bad about the bike is the Harmon/Kardon radio. People having numerous problems. I'm waiting on a new one from my dealer.
Tweek that SG and you'll love it.
The wife is happy with her part of the seat and I felt I was just sitting too high so I modded it. I took about 3 1/2"s out of the sitting area of the seat formed it into the rest of the seat to keep a stock appearing shape. This lowered me on the bike and helped allot. I also put the smoked faring lowers on also and ordered a 6" dark smoked wind deflecter last night off Ebay. But modding the seat did help allot with buffeting. I'll try to get some more pictures of it from differant angles, here is the only one I have right now
My portion of the seat is good enough, wifes is miserable, I have a back rest to install, but I think she needs something closer to the EG Standard seat with the wider pad
I will buy a taller windshield and see what it does, I sure hope I can get it where I want it. $20K / 2 days old and right now I dont really want to get on the highway with it LOL
It'll go away if thats the case for much longer, but man it's pretty to look at
I really like the seat mod you have done, can you tell me how to go about? I am very short and the extra inches closer to the ground would be nice.
I bought a Mustang seat a few months ago and the wife LOVES it but it raised me even higher [:@]

Its pretty easy for me, I upholster for a living but its not a hard mod to do. Remove all the staples and remove the cover. I use a 8" air grinder that has a worn out disk(easier control over cutting the foam, a new one eats it up too fast and is hard to control) Just grind it down to where you want it. I've been doing this mod for several years now so it may just be that easy to me but I know other people have done the samething. One thing you want to do is shape the sides to meet the new seat height or it won't help you touch the ground any better but actually make it worse because the seat will be wider where your legs go down. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, I can do it and I am cheap 30-40 bucks. I've been upholstering for over 20 years now and like I said started doing these seat mods a couple years ago and have done hundreds of them. The stock cover will go right back on and look 90% stock. I had people looking at my bike yesterday and were shocked at how comfortable the seat was(they thought it was a stock seat)<G>
