cruising RPM

I have a buddy whom I work with that loves cruising @ 80 mph...not for me.
Even with PC V, 99.9% of my highway crusing is done in 5th gear...about 2600-2700, especially when 2-up. Motor is responsive if needed, and I like the 'rumble' of the exhaust at that speed. I only use 6th gear when on a straight highway with gradual hills, and can keep my speed @ 70 mph or better, and that's not often. I dont like the lugging sound...sounds like the bike is really straining @ 2300. I prefer to keep the RPMs up when in traffic; feel like it gives me the 'response edge' if needed.
I have no problems just watching the world, or other vehicles, go by @ 60-65 mph, in 5th gear. Gives me time to see them looking at me (bike).
