Default 07flhtp intermitant no start

has anyone here seen no start problems with late model twin cams? have spark and fuel pressure. happens after running for awhile and brief shut down bike sometimes will not start. can hear compression releases clicking during no-start which i believe to be the problem. what would trigger releases on ?

Does it crank but not start? , does it crank normally, or does it crank slowly? The compression releases should not keep it from starting. Check for codes.

Anytime you have a starting issue, you should always have a load test done on the battery. Especially if the battery has been in service for a while. I had an intermittent starting problem on my last Goldwing in less than 6 months and 4,000 miles. A bad battery can very easily cause an intermittent starting problem.

In addition to checking the battery, check, clean battery cable connections. Retorque starter bolts, These are part of the ground circuit.

As said above, check the starter bolts. My '07 SG had this issue and the starter had come loose. There is actually a service bulletin about it.

I had the same problem on my 07Ultra. Mine would start fine when cold. After riding when I would stop for a few min it wouldn't start back. If I would wait for about 30 min it would start like nothing was ever wrong with it. That problem turned out to be the fuel line in the tank that runs from the fuel pump to the fuel filter had a pin hole which was loosing pressure and causing it to vapor lock. If you think this is your problem there is a thread in here that tells how to remove the fuel pump and replace the fuel line. Make sure you use a fuel line that is submersible. Got mine from Napa autoparts just like the thread says. After I replaced it no problems at all. If your stater is spinning the motor over then it has to be something else.
