I'm heading to Florida in a couple weeks. Wondering about riding the coast at the Canaveral National Seashore. Google shows a road right on the ocean, is this a good road? Are there restrictions around the Space Center? Can someone tell me the best route from Titusville. Thanks in advance.
if there's a shuttle on the pad it may be closed, sometimes when it's cool the gators will be in the road cause its warm. Look for the playlinda beach signs and the causeway. Nice beach and if I remember right one of them is clothing optional.
Your access will determine what is happening at the Cape. If you come down from the north side, you can get into some nice areas. Desolate and "natural" Florida. As you head south through the seashore, you will approach Cocoa Beach. As you travel A1A south, try to find the Cocoa Beach Pier. A cool place to check out, have a fish sandwich, and beverage of your choice. Not far south of that is Ron Jon's Surf Shop. You'll see signs all over Florida and on I-95 as far north as North Carolina. Kinda cool....get a T-shirt.
I lived in Titusville for 40 years. Which way will you be coming in from. I can probably help I know every road out there. From Titusville you can take Garden St all the way out to a beautiful beach called Playlinda. The 2 shuttle launch pads a pretty close to the main road out to the beach. What is your destination once you get there??

I'm leaving for Rolling Thunder this weekend so rely upon dwg and others for updates or additional suggestions but here's a good route from T-Ville south through Cocoa Beach. These are normally unrestricted "public" roads through CCAFS that go past both the astronaut and the space center museums. I also included a couple of suggested "rest stops", one in the community of Cape Canaveral and the other being Earl's in Sebastian -a favorite FL biker hangout...
Thanks, I'm heading north from the Keys to South Carolina. Going around Lake Okeechobee then to the coast for a while. Have two days to get to SC. Just wanted to see some pretty sights then hit the super-slab.

Like they said stay on AIA as long as you can but when you get to Port Canaveral you will have to go back out to Hwy US1. Once you reaach US1 you will head north to Titusville about 15 miles. After being on US1 for a few miles there is a great seafood place on the left called Corky Bells well worth the stop. As you head into Titusville you see the space center off to the right. Go through Titusville and on the north end on US1 you will make a right where the signs say Playlinda Beach Canaveral National Seashore. Go bout 12 miles and you will be at the beach and can see the shuttle launch pads. Coming out of Playlinda Beach make a right at the first traffic light and what a great ride that is it takes you back out to US1 south of new Smyrna. Lots of wildlife to see on that road which is called St Rd 3
