Unhappy Too hot for Mama

I am getting worried. My wife is complaining of excessive heat; mainly from the right side. I need to do something or she will quit riding or want me to change bikes. I really like the fit and comfort of my Ultra. What are my options?

Budget is tight and I must confess I am not very good at DIY mechanical stuff.

Don"t want louder pipes.

2009 Ultra stock.

Thanks.

You probably have a non-cat head pipe, which is a great piece right from the factory. A simple stage I air cleaner and a Power Commander preloaded with the right map will help.

I installed a Fuel Moto supplied setup on my friend's Road King, and it ran great! There are many options out there, but I'm of the opinion that Fuel Moto is probably the best to deal with. Leave your stock pipes if you wish.

There will be some heat on hot days, but overall it should cool it off some...

Default Heat on right side.....

Would moving the passenger floorboards out a tad help somewhat? That would put more space between her leg and the bike. More room for cooling air to pass. There are kits (edit - check here -(http://www.harleygoodies.com/hdf/) that will move them out.

JKAHD,
Check out Harleygoodies.com!
They have passenger floorboard extensions which many many guys like
from here.
You'll see them chime in soon!

My wifes legs burn too but I got the true duals and stage1 and it helped.

And like SOOS said, those heat shields are great! Many guys also love them!

I have heat shields from RJ Originals and absolutely love them. The wife won't ride on the bike w/o them. They stay on my scoot all year long and really do help with the the heat from the wife's legs. They are American made and from a forum sponsor that is also a Military Veteran.

Putting on heat shields,I think,is putting a band aid on the problem.Won't help your engine any.I'd install a PCV from Fuel Moto and run synthetic oil,Amsoil or Mobil 1.Worked for me.

Nightrider XIED. I put them on my Streetglide and it reduces the heat. A good bang for the buck IMHO.

I realize you said you didn't want to spend a lot of money so this probably isn't for you but……..

……….my wife's right leg would also get very hot on our '06 Ultra.

The heat mostly came from the stock (cross over pipe) that connects the rear cylinder exhaust to the front cylinder exhaust.

When I replaced the exhaust with true duals……. this pipe was eliminated………all of my wife's heat problems are gone.
