for a 3/4 helmet on my 09 should I use headset 77147-98A or 77117-10
since the newer are on the 10 ultra and the 98 has been around for 98-09

Years ago I had a J&M CB kit with a uniden handheld CB with a rubber ducky antenna. The cb had a headphone jack and a 12vdc input jack for power and it came with a handlebar kit. Worked well as the bike at the time was Fatboy. Wasnt always the prettiest, but it worked and didnt cost an arm and a leg and when I didnt need it, all I had was the handlebar mount left. It also came with a rain cover for inclimate weather.

I done a small write-up on installation of cb/intercom for my '07 RG here https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...arts-list.html. Although it is wrong year, it might give you an idea of the parts and installation required. Some part numbers might be the same. I tried explaining this as simple as possible, being I could not find anything on any threads at the time and also found that HD had some incorrect part numbers listed in the catalog. Hope this helps, good luck.

that was a good write up...but yeah some parts are different now depending on how you go with it...I dont have to do the rear speaker kit with using 77108-09 intercom harness it takes place of the center plastic insert and passenger setup that comes on rear speakers.
the passenger mounts close to the air shock valve behind saddlebag with that kit.

bout the cb part 160, 77108-09 320, antenna 85, 70169-06 harness 120, and local dealer is 37.50 for the flash and then get headsets for our helmets

The Headset 77117-10 is the "Boom" Headset. It is Harley's supposed "Improved" answer to the better Headsets offered by the aftermarket. The Headset 77147-98A is the same Headset used from the 1998 model year.
As for the Headsets, I have used the Harley Headsets before. But I had to change when I went from my 1989 Ultra to the 1998 Ultra. So I bought my Headsets from J&M. The Headsets will work by just changing the bottom connection cord. The same Headset will even work with other manufacturers just by changing the cord, not the entire Headset.

The CB does not require a Flash. The Fader Flash is not a Charge Flash from Harley. If your dealer charges for that Flash, it is on them, not harley.
The Flash 76441-06DT is the Flash required to activate the Intercom in the HK radio.

plus $90 on ebay for 77147-98a sounds better than $190 for 77117-10

Easy, Interphone F4 bluetooth headset. Best integration of rider, passenger, phone, GPS, and other bluetooth enabled devices. Has ~10 hrs talk time too, so it'll handle a full days ride. Anyway, you can check out Webbikeworld reviews on this and other brand headset and decide for yourself.

Default Sena SMH10

Sena Smh10 is probably the best out there in terms of volume and features. Music blasts with that thing and the range is the best per webbikeworld.com

Interphone is nice but not quite as loud or as far for bike to bike.
