I am new to the site. I am picking up my 2010 Street Glide on June 6th. As I read everything about the baggers, I too would like to customize her a little. I have a question for the riders with extended saddlebags, how much clearence is there in curves? What are the advantages and disadvantages of the extended saddlebags?
While they do look good, I don't want to waste money.
Do a search for skid plates, they will drag depending on what amount of stretch and how much attitude you ride with. Skid plates can help protect the bottom of the bags, but no real testing on how well they work.
It would be more cost effective, but they definitely don't look as good as real bags. plus you don't get the extra space inside, and you run the chance of them seperating.
Rode the "Dragons Back" (Va Rt 16) a couple of weeks ago and didn't scrape mine. Guess it all depends on how radical you ride. I prefer full bags to extensions for the reasons listed above.
