Got the bars installed before our trip out to the hills with no issues on the trip and significantly more comfort.
My only issue that I see is the Avon grips, which I really like. Comfortable, Grippy, more comfortable etc... Appear to be too short?!
I chucked my old grips and can't verify though. Anyone else have this issue? Just a cosmetic issue really. See the gap where the bars get bigger after the hand controls. The ring on the right grip is from zip-tying the lever down before I went to bed to get the rest of the air out of the lines. It went away after it was in the sun for a bit.
Can’t make our stuff to fit every aftermarket part. Our bars are designed to work with HD OEM Equipment. If Avon has designed something that doesn’t match factory specs then the problem lies with the guy choosing cheap grips…Not with our bars.
I wasn't blaming the bars! I was just curious if the Avon grips were shorter than stock. How much for a set of the Performance Machine black renthal grips DR?
I think the issue with the Avon's is the 1/4 chunk of rubber in the end of the grip which the metal cap screws to. Without that I imagine the gap would be gone, but you'd have no way to screw the end cap on.
I can tell you for a FACT, that Avon grips are about 1/2" longer than stock and they are not cheap stuff. They are great grips! The above email is BS and a bad attitude. The bars would have even more space with stock grips. Cutting the bars is the fix, but the bars are still poorly designed.
I have a set of PYO Monkey Bars and I also have a slight gap between the bars and my grips...which are Performance Machine and NOT cheap at all! I agree, his response was pretty eff'd up...I really like his products, but sounds like he's a jerk which makes me re-think using his stuff in the future...
