I just thought I would post the outcome of my front brake issue. The front brake would not hold at a stop. It would continue to bleed off and eventually come all the way back to the grip. I took the bike in Saturday. They hooked up the computer to it and it passed all the tests. I told the guy he needed to go ride it, which he eventually did. He came back with this scared look on his face. I knew right away it happened to him. He says yep, your fight, kind scary isn't it. This dealer in particular hasn't had a lot of exposure to ABS but I told them I didn't think it was an ABS problem. They agreed and decided the easiest first step would be to replace the front master cylinder. That fixed it. Seems that it had a bad seal. All is good now.
glad to hear it worked out. i am eager for my 1k service on my limited because one thing that really bugs me is i have to pump the front brake once every time for it to feel right. read here that others are having the same problem and that its just the way it is, but its not right.
thanks for your update, may be good info for me to have.

I agree, doesn't sound right to me either. My bike obviously had a more drastic problem but they could be related if there is a bad set of o-rings out there.
It's good to hear that they found what was causing your problem. I am just getting ready to go in for my 1K checkup, but my brakes have been solid (2010 FLHR with ABS). I'm hoping that continues...
I specified that my new 2008 RG should have ABS. When the dealer tried to sell me a RG with no ABS, I indicated that it did not have ABS. The salesman said AB what? That showed how much they knew about ABS at that time. The 2011 bikes will out soon. I hope they have learned something since 2008.
I am having the same problem with my Limited. The front brake pulls about half way back on the first pull and only about 1/4 after one pump. I have carried it in to have this checked twice. The first time they bleed the ABS pump/system and the feel was a little more firm. The next time they called the HD service and were told this is normal. I did get this in writing just in case. It has never gone all the way to the handle bar, but is varying in application point nearly everytime. I do make sure my foot is on the foot brake just in case. I have compared mine to several other bikes with ABS and they all have a much more firm feel and move only to about a 1/4 of the travel. I too am not sure of what is happening, but it isn't right.
got my limited back from 1k service yesterday. same silly answer. tech says there is no service bulletin for the front brake play and that it is like that on all the abs 10 touring models. he agrees it is odd to have to pump once to get it to feel like we are used to, but there is nothing he can do. he also bled the front brakes. i am dissapointed and feel that the answer will be revealed to us in a future bulletin. jmho.
Wouldnt be the first time HD has hid from a problem with their standard "normal" crappy response. I havent noticed it on mine yet, but you guys have me concerned. Hope there are some real answers soon.

This could be caused by a little run out on the discs. If they have a little run out it drives the pistons slightly back into the calipers, and when you grab the lever you have 8 pistons that you need to drive out and get them to touch the disc.
My 09 does this a little, the first application of the brakes takes a little more travel, and if the bike is stopped and you reapply the brake the lever is right at the top.
It could indeed be normal, or just a little bit more runout than normal, still within spec.
When you compared the other bikes with your bike did you ride them or were you doing the comparison stopped like in the show room?
