Default Ignition Switch Tool thread

A while back, someone pasted a video of himself using a tool he made from flattened copper tubing which he used to control the ignition switch positions after the switch itself has been removed. I thought I had the thread subscribed to, but it's gone and searched for it with no success.

I'm preparing to remove my inner fairing for painting and I need this tool. If anyone remembers this thread, please post the link.

Thanks in advance.

I've never used a tool and you don't need one, IMO. Just turn the ignition switch to Lock but don't lock the forks. Put everything back together the same way and you shouldn't have any trouble. Anyway, you could always remove the switch panel, then replace the spacer/nut set and the switch if you needed to move the switch around, like to test a device you just connected to switchable 12V. That would be the same thing as using a tool.

Hogdoc, who is an HD tech, says he always removes the switch in the Acc position, and since he does it all the time it is obviously not the wrong way to do it. What you don't want to do is remove the switch, then replace it without having the spacers and nut installed under it. I did that once and after moving the switch around got the tumblers out of whack. That's no fun, as you then need to get them back in whack by hacking around with a flat-blade screwdriver.

for what it's worth. Every Time I run across a thread with good information, or a "HOW TO" I save it. Under favorites make a new folder, name it Harley Info or something like that, and place the thread in the folder...sure comes in handy...
sorry, just thought I'd share.
