Default Oil Pump Alignment 01 RK

Manual says to spin the crank.. I didnt have a lift handy so I just put the bolt onto the crank stem and turned the crank with a ratchet with the spark plugs out and in neutral. Is this going to work or shall I find a jack take the sprockets off to realign?

Thanks!

To add to the post above, after installation of the sprockets and chain I connected a trill to the crank shafts 1/2 nut and spun it clockwise and I had oil coming out what looked to be from behind the crank sprocket. Good or bad?

Kind of just sounds like I am thinking aloud on this forum but after searching this forum and reading a little more I decided to try turning the crank with a drill while the ignition was on (not the run switch on the bars, just the switch on the tank, it has the oil light on that leg) The oil light was on before I started, I turned the drill up to about 800 rpms or so (no spark plugs as mentioned before) and was able to get the oil light to go off... So I assume I am getting oil pressure.

But for setting my mind at ease, is it normal for oil to come out in between the crank shaft sprocket and cam support plate?

I circled in red where you will see oil coming out as you align the pump. It will come out of the center and dribble down. You don't need a lift either, you could have taken a piece of 2x6 or 2x8 and turned it sideways to lift the rear wheel off the ground.

Why don't you get the oil pump alignment screws to align the pump. If your seeing oil coming out by your cam plate when turning the crank then the pump is working. Did you convert over to the new camplate or use your old one.

I just replaced the guides... Left everything OEM... I'm saving up for the gear drive system.

That's exactly where I am getting oil from. Thanks a lot for pictures...
