They offered to get one coming but its not in HIS time frame so thats thier fault too?
I have to agree with Hog Doc on this one. Don't make me type out all the reasons.

**** happens. I think the dealer might have handled it a little better but it comes down to an older bike having poor service work in the past and the owner having to bite the bullet for it.

It is called the "Service Department" It is about wrenching AND customer service. My 2 cents and exactly why I drive out of my way to go to a dealer that at least makes me think that I matter to them, instead of just getting everything they possibly can out of my wallet every time I show up.

My 2 Cents

Dealer was totally out of line. They are in the business of dealing with situations like this every day. If a part was close to being damaged or destroyed in the process it should have brought to the customers attention immediately. Come on, is this the first frozen axle they ever encountered... give ME a break. This dealer needs to remember what service is all about. But thats the reason so many Harley dealers are going broke... they think they can treat people like crap and take advantage of someone from out of town.

I totally agree with what a few said here....Tech should have told service manager to get the customer to come look at the axle. Let the customer make the decision on what to do next. Both sides have a complaint IMO....easy way out is to let the customer decide.

I would have been "Happy as Hell" just to find an axle and to get on my way.

We go out of our way to get travelers back on the road as quickly and safely as we can. But things do break. The staff should have made the customer aware of potential damage prior. But business aint free.

/thread.

Also should have told customer at that time that they did NOT have the part in question in stock, potentially causing further problems. Sometimes the only way to get something out is to damage it in the process. Alas sometimes techs are "lazy" and don't try to remove ot without damaging it first.

Someone needs to let the dealer know about this thread. Let them tell their side of the story. After all of this, they might help out the OP with his expense to make this thread go away.

So someone in that area, go get the dealer!
