Beach bars will make your pain worse. I had the same problem. I saw your not a fan of apes, but they fix the probelm. Maybe just look at something a bit taller like Heritage bars. Lot of guys make that change and it won't take away from the look of the RKC. Good luck
Apes helped me with my Street Glide. They make sit up a little straighter. I used to have some pain after a couple hours. Now I can ride out a full tank of gas without any back pain

Bennie...what kind of apes do you have? I have an 06 SG.
I had the same problem with my 09 road king classic. i installed wild one chubby 12.5 apes and no longer have the pains. I did not like apes untill i rode with them. Now they have grown on me.
I have the same pain with my 07 sg. I want to try some mini apes out but don't want shell out that much money till I know for sure I will like them. Trying to find one local and see if they will let me test ride them. But in the time being I bought the detachable back rest. I hate the way it looks but I had to do something. I had to ride from southern Ill to Dallas. Made a huge difference. Had almost no pain. I am 5' 9" for what it's worth as well....
Does anyone have a picture showing the differnce between the heritage bars and the stock bars?
I REALLY like the looks of the WO 508s, but I have two problems. 1. I dont know if its going to help my pains... 2. I dont know how much its going to cost to change them out. $500 with cables and all? I dunno.
I know this has been mentioned before in this thread, but Heritage bars worked for me (07 RK). For about $60 you can make the swap and see if it works for you. No cables to buy - use the old ones. If after you swap them out and you still have issues, then go for the big dollar solution.
