You may want to check out Long Ride Shields. They offer two versions of recurve, classic and ultra along with a design called the xstream. I have a 6" classic recurve and it works well, excellent quality and customer service from my experience and priced well. They will also allow you to test the shield as long as you don't remove the plastic.
I have a clearview and I don't notice much difference at all. I am going to get a Freedomshield. They are better made (thicker) have polished edges and the curve is more pronounced hence should perform better.
I looked over the Freedom Shield. They look nicely made, but better I don't know. Acrylic vs Lexan, Lexan is better every time.
The clearview GT Small works for me on my Road Glide. I can see over top. It's not in my line of sight like the stock shield. I get enough breeze so I am comfotable in the warm weather and no buffeting at any speed. I might jump for a taller shield if I planned on doing a lot of real cold weather riding but for me the GT Small is the best all around shield I have found.
Clearview is a great company to do business with. They will spend time with you on the phone helping you pick the right shield for your bike.
Great shields - the stock HD shield on my 2010 Road Glide never saw the road but i mistakenly bought the HD 10" smoked shield, barely OK for me and my wife said she felt like a bobblehead doll from all the buffeting.
Bought the small Clearview (a blem that I have yet to find the defects) and it's great for me (5'10", 30" inseam). Good view and just the right amount of wind. Also got the stock size which is 1+1/2" higher, for the two of us on longer rides and I'll most likely mount it once the weather turns cold.
Great people to deal with as long as you don't get your utrou in a bunch waiting for the 6 week delivery or answers to your emails (foolproof: call them, leave a message as they instruct you to do and they'll call back within 24 hours). Some forum members have had issues with this, but ...
Great people to deal with as long as you don't get your utrou in a bunch waiting for the 6 week delivery
I am fixing to order one. Please don't tell me it take 6 weeks for them to come in. I went to their in stock section, and saw they have the shield I want in stock. I would hope that it would not take 6 weeks to come. I think after a week, if it did not ship, I would cancel my order. That is ridiculous. The only thing I ever waited that long for was a set of Jessie James pipes for my Fatboy, which took 13 months to come in. Yes, they were badass, but they took forever. I called West Coast Choppers once a month, and once I even asked if Jesse himself was back there making them because they took so long.
I have had 3 and all have worked well. Make certain that you read and follow the fitting instructions on there sight. You will need to be patient after you order it they are slow this time of the year, but worth the wait.
